Are you working in a small museum or library or other organisation? You can make your very own interactive, multi-sensory museum collection, and teach yourself some new digital skills as you do it!
What's a Small Organisation?
Did you know that about 80% of the world's museums, libraries, and archives have less than 10 staff? Well, it's true. And, we love the small ones, so we hope that a Make Your Own kit can help you share your collection with your visitors and friends and students nearby, as well as on the Museum in a Box platform. Our vision is that any collection developed and shared on the platform could be sent to anyone with a Box, anywhere in the world... and this Kit is a first step.
How are Small Organisations using Museum in a Box?
- The Monroe County History Center have supplemented their Living With History program, creating multi-sensory reminiscence collections to share with their community of dementia sufferers and their carers
- The Ure Museum of Greek Archaeology has made a collection about the life of Annie Ure, one of the first female archaeologists, to share with University of Reading students, Friends of the Museum, and their in-museum Key Stage Two school sessions.
